Hold the key
Hold fn (or right Option) - anywhere. A discreet pill shows live audio level. The microphone is only on while you hold the key.
Speak
Say what you want to write - Danish or English, at your own pace. Or ask a question, or set a reminder.
Release
Your text gets punctuation, paragraphs and obvious fixes - your words and tone are kept - and lands at the cursor. Your clipboard is restored afterwards.

No extra shortcuts to remember. hiSpoke hears the intent in your first words.

The answer appears in a small panel - without leaving your app. Just mentioning hiSpoke mid-sentence does nothing: it becomes text like everything else.

Start with the name so the app knows you want a reminder, not text. hiSpoke extracts the task and the time from your sentence - and shows the reminder on screen when it’s due.

No servers that see your content.
hiSpoke has no servers that see your content. Your speech goes directly to OpenAI through your own key - it’s you and OpenAI, no middleman. Your history and settings stay on your Mac. The app fetches three things from us: updates, your licence at the time of purchase, and a daily list of keys closed after a refund. None of them send anything about you.

Questions & answers
Do I need ChatGPT Plus?
No - and ChatGPT Plus can’t be used. You need an OpenAI API account with a small balance (~$5). They’re two different things; the API account is created at platform.openai.com.
What does it cost to run?
hiSpoke is a one-time purchase. On top you pay your own OpenAI usage directly to OpenAI - typically 10-30 DKK a month with daily use. The app shows an indicative estimate.
Which apps does it work in?
Any app with a cursor: Mail, browsers, Slack, VS Code, Word … Text is inserted via the clipboard, and your old clipboard is restored afterwards.
Which languages can I speak?
Danish and English. The interface comes in both too - you pick it under General.
Is my speech private?
hiSpoke has no servers that see your content, and no telemetry. Your speech is sent to OpenAI for transcription - directly, through your own key, along with the words from your Dictionary as spelling help. The microphone is only on while you hold the key, and there is no wake word. History and settings stay on your Mac and can be cleared. A local mode is on the roadmap.
Can I use hiSpoke in my business?
Yes. But if you dictate information about other people - customers, patients, clients or employees - you are the data controller for it. Your speech goes straight to OpenAI with your own key, and I never receive the content. History and settings stay on your Mac, and you can delete them whenever you want. In return, you need your own basis in place with OpenAI, including a data processing agreement, before you dictate information about others. If you handle sensitive data such as health information, talk to your own adviser first. The full clause is number 6 under Terms.
Is it a subscription?
No. One payment, lifetime license. The license key lands in your inbox seconds after purchase.
How many devices can I use hiSpoke on?
The licence may be used on up to 2 of your own Macs. That is a licence term, not a technical lock - so switching computers is straightforward. Email support@hispoke.com if you need to go beyond two.
How does the app update?
hiSpoke checks for new versions itself and downloads and installs them automatically - you never have to fetch anything manually. Every update is signed, and the signature is verified on your Mac before installing. The check sends no version number, no ID and no content.
Does it work on an Intel Mac?
No. hiSpoke requires a Mac with Apple Silicon - that is, M1 or later.
How do I get started?
Download the app, grant the two permissions, enter your OpenAI key and your license key. Onboarding guides you - it takes a couple of minutes.
